Story of The Film:
"Kerala Story is a 2024" Indian Hindi drama film directed by Sudeep Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. It stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Bharani, and Siddhi Idnani. The plot revolves around a group of women from Kerala who are forced to convert to Islam and join the Islamic State.
Touted as a true story, the film is based on the Hindutva "love jihad" conspiracy theory,in which thousands of Hindu women from Kerala convert to Islam and join the Islamic State. 'Kerala Story' was released in theaters on May 5, 2023. It grossed 303.97 million euros (approximately US$38 million) at the worldwide box office, making it the ninth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023.The film was heavily promoted by the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which used it in its campaign for the
Karnataka state assembly elections.However, film critics gave mainly negative reviews, characterizing the film as Islamophobic propaganda. The film also faced lengthy legal battles and protests, particularly in Kerala, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu.
