John Luther is an honest and efficient district inspector stationed in Munnar. His sister Reena is having an engagement ceremony, but he is late as usual because he is a dedicated workaholic police officer who always puts his duty first. He arrives the evening before, but leaves as soon as the event ends. John is in charge of investigating a motorcycle accident that occurred the night before; the driver, Prakashan, died at the scene, but his passenger is missing. The pickup truck that collided with the motorcycle was identified based on surveillance camera footage and photos of passengers on the bus where the body fell.

However, the driver of the shuttle left the passenger on the road and said he had no idea what happened. During this time, a male student from the same area also went missing. John feels that although he finds no connection between the two incidents, they are somehow related. John notices that the pickup truck parked at the first crime scene does not have a license plate on the side. Police are currently searching for this truck. John confronts two thugs from another major case he is investigating and gets into an argument. During the fight, one of the thugs hits John in the left ear with a pipe, seriously injuring him. At the hospital, doctors told John and his family that he had completely lost hearing in his left ear and only had 20% hearing in his right ear. John takes a month off and begins using hearing aids and a voice recorder.
